Mississippi sculptor Ben Watts will unveil the seventh signature FestivalSouth sculpture in as many years at the “Evening of Art Event” at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 7, at OddFellows Gallery in downtown Hattiesburg.
This year’s creation, “The Cameraman,” honors the FestivalSouth Film Expo (FSFX). The sculpture design is a throwback to the Buster Keaton film of the same name.
Things a mom may share with her son: a passion for music, blue eyes, fair skin, skinny jeans, hairspray, eye liner, spandex... Wait! What?
Those are some of the things Jennie Bounds and her son, Jackson (J.B.), will be sharing as they join The Hub City Players in the Broadway smash hit, Rock of Ages.
The 80s-themed, heavy metal musical takes the stage of the Mannoni Performing Arts Center Auditorium June 9 –11 as part of FestivalSouth’s seventh season.
No place like home for Mother’s Day! When Sethe Tucker returns to headline FestivalSouth’s music opening with Soul School at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, June 4, at the Saenger Theater, it will be a homecoming made all the more sweet in that it means seeing her mom.
“To be home amongst friends and family is always fund,” said Sethe, “but most of all, I get to hang out with mom!”
FestivalSouth has long been a champion of the arts. As the festival has expanded to include everything from film and lecture series to food and craft beer experiences, the dynamic core of art, music, theatre and dance are the basis for a creative economy that makes Hattiesburg a cultural destination. This year, FestivalSouth celebrates each of these with exclusive destination evenings that showcase our rich artistic fabric.
