Signature Q&A: Frank Caliendo

FRANK CALIENDO, 45, is returning to the Hub City a second time for this year’s Laughs4Life fundraising event Aug. 2 at The Saenger Theater. A comedian, actor, and impressionist, Caliendo has been making people laugh his entire life. He is well known for his impressions of famous personal-ities – Donald Trump, Morgan Freeman, Al Pacino and Robin Williams, to name a few. On stage, his high energy act is a blend of observations, impressions, characters and anecdotal stories that start at a frenetic pace and never let up.

What is your idea of happiness?
Calmness...  not being worried about anything. In the meantime, spending time with my family, which tends to be the opposite.

Any fears?
Way too many to mention... and I don’t want to take a chance at them becoming reality by mentioning them here.
What is your most prized possession?
I honestly don’t know if I have one. I’m going to go with my wedding ring because of all it symbolizes. And if my wife sees this, she will be happy. By the way, I think she has tons of most prized possessions. She is kind of a hoarder.

Which talent would you most like to have?
I think singing would be one I wish that I had developed. If not that, I wish I could throw a baseball 102 mph with movement and accuracy... by the way, then I would probably have more prized possessions.
What is your favorite quality in an audience?
Listening. When people truly listen, it makes the show more fun.

What was the worst day of your life?
The day before this Q and A... because I didn’t know this kind of bliss existed yet.

What is your idea of misery?
Being trapped in a remote cabin and tortured by a crazy fan.

What is your present state of mind?

What do people not know about you?
That I can fly. They don’t know it, because I can’t... but they still don’t know it, right?
Who is your favorite fictional hero?
Again, I’m not sure if I have a favorite. Maybe Spider-Man, because he’s my daughter’s favorite... and when she is happy, that’s the best!
Who are your heroes in real life?
Anyone who works hard and follows their dreams.

What was the happiest day of your life?
I think we know the answer to this. Today!
If you could have dinner with anyone – dead or alive – who would it be?
I feel like dinner with a dead person would be kind of a one-sided conversation. I’m going to go with my wife on this one – or Tom Holland – so my daughter could meet her favorite Spider-Man.

What is your motto?
It’s good to know where you’ve been... but better to concentrate on where you’re going.

What is your favorite impression to do?
I’m going to say, that’s harder than picking a favorite child – which is currently my daughter. I kid. I just don’t see my son that much because he’s playing video games all the time. Maybe Robert Downey Jr. for favorite impression.

What do you remember most about visiting Hattiesburg in 2016?
Wonderful people and Brett Favre hanging out with my family and me backstage.
What do you hate the most?
I hate hate. So I try not to hate.

What words would people use to describe you?

Who are your favorite athletes?
Drew Brees,
Larry Fitzgerald,
Milo of Croton.
