Signature Q&A: Cheryl Fletcher

Cheryl Fletcher is a wedding professional, who has owned Forrest Paper and Bridal Co., a bridal and stationery boutique, in downtown Hattiesburg for 15 years. More recently, she opened Ardor Venue, a space for hosting more intimate gatherings, next door. Fletcher has won national recognition for her custom invitation design, which is one of the specialties of her boutique. When she isn't helping her brides, she enjoys trips to the beach, running, walking her German Shepherd and family time.

What is your idea of happiness?  
Happiness, for me, is when I am able to be instrumental in the happiness of others.

What is your greatest fear? 
I fear how at odds our country and the world are today.

What is the trait you most deplore in yourself?  

What is the trait you most deplore in others?  
Lack of respect for others.

What is your most prized possession?  
That would be my Bridal and Stationery Shop. It's such a treasure of happiness and fulfillment for me.

Which talent would you most like to have?
I would love to be able to sing.

What is your favorite quality in a woman?  

What is your favorite quality in a man?  
Integrity. That one word encompasses so many important qualities.  

What do you most value in your friends?  
Loyalty. Even when you don't see that person for years, you can pick up right where you left off.

What is your idea of misery? 
Having to deal with another Canadian winter. Snow is fun to visit, but not so much to live with every day. There are three seasons in Canada, getting ready for winter, winter, and recovering from winter – not far from the truth!

Who are your heroes in real life?  
My three children, they are truly an inspiration.

What was the worst day of your life?  
Looking back, even though there have been some tough ones, I think there are far worse things that could happen.

What was the happiest day of your life?  
When I finally realized not everything had to be perfect. Since that day, I am able to enjoy life so much more.

What is one thing that most people don’t know about you?
Many people don't know that I was born and raised in Toronto, Canada, and have been in the south for 32 years.

James Patterson, Tom Clancy, John Grisham,

Besides the Pine Belt, where is your favorite place to be?  
The beach is my favorite place to be.

What do you hate the most?
Unkind, inconsiderate people.

How would you like to die?
Peacefully, with dignity and grace.

What is your greatest regret? 
At times, I regret the things I didn't do – live and learn.

What words would people use to describe you?  
Vibrant, outgoing, intelligent and, most of all, tenacious

Motivated, confident and happy.

Always be a positive influence and never quit.

What would you eat for your last meal?
Ha ha, definitely something chocolate!
