Picnic-Perfect Wines

"Some old-fashioned things like fresh air and sunshineare hard to beat.”   -Laura Ingalls Wilder

After a long winter, we're looking forward to the coming warmer months. As Hattiesburgers, we're blessed with an abundance of opportunities to enjoy our delightful spring weather. Whether it's Live @ Five, tailgating or an evening in your own backyard, here are a few of our favorites to enjoy alfresco.

Pasqua 11 Minutes Rosé, 2017
A blend of Italian varietals of Corvina, Trebbiano di Lugana, Syrah, Carmenère. The name 11 minutes refers to how long the grapes were pressed for extraction. A pretty little bottle with notes of white apricots and wild strawberry, slightly floral on the palate with a dry clean finish.
RETAIL: $16.99

Santa Cristina Campogrande Orvietto, 2015
This straw yellow sipper has a nose of delicate white orange blossoms, peaches and apricots. With flavors of pineapple and banana and a delicate finish, it is sure to please on a mild spring day.
RETAIL: $16.99

Cave de Lugny Les Charmes Chardonnay, 2016
The nose explodes with aromas of citrus, peach and apricot followed by lovely acidity and a marked freshness. The structure and slightly spicy flavor of Les Charmes makes it unique while still being aromatic and fresh.
RETAIL: $17.99

Massimo Ronca Bardolino
Most people don't think of red as a picnic wine, but this light bodied, quaffable red is perfect for hot days – with bright spicy cherry, juicy plum and well balanced acidity. Pop it in the fridge for 15 minutes before serving for a refreshing treat!
RETAIL: $15.99

Domaine Jean-Paul Paquet Saint-Véran 2015
This is a rich Chardonnay that exhibits white floral aromas with hints of licorice and light minerals. This Saint-Véran has notes of tropical fruit and hints of honey and toast which balances beautifully with the zippy acidity and mineral freshness. Delicious!
RETAIL: $23.99
