Line Cook, The Depot Kitchen and Market on Bushman Street,

What advice would you give young girls today?
You are allowed to change your mind. Be aware and considerate of others needs, but nothing comes before your well-being and personal safety.

Best advice a woman has ever given you?
“Be vigilant.” -Mom

What does it take to be a strong woman leader?
Recognizing the difference between intuition and fear.

What is one event you could point to in your life that got you to where you are today?
Moving downtown, making the decision to leave my corporate job that was in my degree field, then creating my food instagram account, RipeWEB, that led me to getting offered a job at The Depot.

Who is your female role model?
Lauren Toyota. She is a pilar in the modern day vegan community and hasn’t let any bumps in the road break her down. Aside from her catalogue of recipes, she’s taught me the importance of balancing work life and down time.

You get to share a meal with a group of women (deal or alive), who would they be and why?
Since I’ve already shared a meal with Lauren Toyota, I’d say the ladies of The Burlesque Hall of Fame.

What cartoon did you watch as a child?
The first cartoon I remember my father showing me was Ren & Stimpy. That should be a good indicator on what I watched growing up.

Best childhood memory?
Spending many of my formative years on my mom’s army base (holidays were the absolute best) and getting to play with all of her office supplies (nothing compares to drawing with grease pencils).

Favorite female singer?
Now that I think about it...definitely Victoria Legrand

Favorite movie featuring women?
Miss Congeniality

What is one item you can’t live without?
Alarm clock

Favorite month?
October. I always feel pretty fierce in the month of October.

What was the last movie you watched?
Jackie Brown on repeat

Were you named after a family member? Where is your name from?
My mom and dad debated on what to name me. She wanted to name me Natalie after Natalie Cole. My dad clearly won and named me after the two of them. Her name is Lillian and his name is Darren. He arranged the letters to fit and there you have my uncommon spelling.

Skill most likely to master?
Veganizing things.

What is your life theme song?
Sugar Town by Nancy Sinatra/Learning To Fly by Pink Floyd

What’s the destination for the trip of your dreams?
New Zealand and/or Germany

One thing you’ve always wanted to try?
Consistent journaling. This questionnaire has made me realize that I need to get back to documenting my life as often as I did when I was a pre-teen.
