Just in time for Father’s Day, the Downtown Association announces Hattiesburg Craft Beer Festival set for from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, June 15, in Town Square Park. Presented in partnership with Corner Market, the 7th annual festival promises to be bigger and better than ever.
A part of the FestivalSouth celebration in June, the Hattiesburg Craft Beer festival focuses on the brewers and artisans of the industry, highlighting the uniqueness and creativity of craft beers. Tastings of more than 100 beers will be available from more than 30 breweries throughout Mississippi and surrounding states.
“Hattiesburg is a champion for the craft beer movement. Our beer festival has grown and enhanced alongside the industry,” said Andrea Saffle, executive director of the Hattiesburg Downtown Association. “Last year, we expanded the festival, adding interactive vendors, live music, and yard games. It was our biggest and most successful year yet, and we are expecting this year to be even better with more festival activities and fun.”
Seven years ago, the way Mississippians enjoyed craft beer shifted through the passing of new craft beer legislation. This small change in laws brought about a huge economic and cultural impact that is still being felt today in Hattiesburg. Home to Southern Prohibition Brewing, Colludium Brewing Company, and The Porter Public House as a newly renovated brew-pub, Hattiesburg encourages “crafting your own adventure” to visitors and locals alike. Additionally, the large number of bars and locally-owned stores with this focus make Hattiesburg Mississippi’s hotspot craft beer community.
Local and regional homebrewers will be offering brews unavailable in mass market to festival goers, vying for the 2019 People’s Choice Award.
Local restaurants and vendors will offer treats for purchase throughout the night, and event shirts will be sold online prior to festival day as well as day of. Attendees are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or blanket to enjoy the open green space and live music by Shagnolia.
General admission tickets are $35 each and include a sampling mug, unlimited sampling and complimentary soft drinks and water while supplies last. To promote safety, designated driver general admission tickets are available for $5 each and include non-alcoholic beverages.
The festival will also offer a VIP experience, complete with general admission amenities, exclusive brews, food offerings, private air-conditioned restrooms and a festival T-shirt. VIP ticket holders will receive early access to the festival starting at 5 p.m. Tickets are $70 for VIP admission or $25 for VIP designated driver admission. Designated driver VIP ticket holders will have access to all features, with the exception of beer. Available VIP tickets are limited and sell out each year, so attendees are encouraged to purchase them in advance. VIP tickets will not be sold the day of the event.
Advance online ticket purchase is strongly recommended. Remaining general admission tickets will go on sale at 6:30 p.m. the day of the event after all advance purchase general admission ticketholders have been admitted.
