This year Signature Magazine is shaking things up a bit to keep the Best of the Pine Belt party going all month long and to amp up the excitement.
June 1 marks the second annual Best of the Pine Belt Hall of Fame dinner with the BOPB Awards Show winding down FestivalSouth with a gala show on Friday, June 28, at the Saenger Theater.
But to get people in the right frame of mine, Signature is kicking the May 31 weekend up a notch when it hosts the 2nd Annual Signature Magazine Pub Crawl featuring the Hub City Sound Machine with performances by The Prom Knights, Burns & Jane, and Baby Jackalope.
The night gets started with a Block Party from 6-7:30 p.m. at The Porter in downtown Hattiesburg. After that, things really get going and the crawl is off with rotations to nearby locales.
The Shop Downtown will feature Burns & Jane, while Benny’s Boom Boom Room hosts The Prom Knights, and the Baby Jackalopes will position themselves at Blu Jazz Cafe. To make the Pub Crawl experience the best it can be, crawlers will be divided into three groups, and will visit each venue on a rotating basis. The sets run from 7:45-8:15 p.m., 8:30-9 p.m. and 9:15-9:45 p.m. with 15-minute intervals to allow each group to move from location to location. From 10 p.m.-midnight, all three groups of crawlers will convene downstairs at Front Street Bar for the BOPB Pub Crawl Finale featuring Lanna Wakeland and the Hub City Sound Machine.
Crawlers are invited to carouse the night away (in a responsible manner) with friends at all the downtown stops, because there’s nothing like a herd of Hattiesburgers making its way around downtown.
As always, there will be a Signature photographer or two around to capture the fun, so don’t forget to smile! CHEESE!
“Musical acts associated with Best of the Pine Belt were invited to participate in the events surrounding the contest, but we’ve also chosen some local fan favorites that aren’t nominated this year to perform as well,” Signature Publisher David Gustafson said. “Last year was great fun and we want to continue to grow the fun and the fandom of the Pub Crawl each year.”
Tickets will be available for purchase prior to the event. A $10 pub crawl ticket includes a limited edition wrist band, commemorative cup and exclusive drink discounts at each stop on the pub crawl. A $20 VIP ticket includes dedicated registration table, limited edition wristband, commemorative cup, a burger and beer from The Porter, exclusive drink discounts at each stop on the pub crawl, and a complimentary dessert at 206 Front. Tickets for Hub City Sound Machine will also be available for purchase at the door at Front Street Bar for $10.
