• What to Wear: BOPB Award Show

It’s that time again, folks! It’s time for the annual Best of the Pine Belt Awards Show! Every year I get the same question: “What do I wear?”

Well, the answer is quite simple, really. Wear whatever you’re comfortable in!

  • Mama Glenda knew best

Truth be told, my brother and I were impeccably-dressed children. Our uniforms were ironed each morning, every hair on our heads was perfectly in place, our shoes were spotless, and we never stepped foot outside of the house with an untucked shirt.

All of this, thanks to my mother.

She instilled in us at an early age that we must be presentable and put together in order to be taken seriously in life, and that first impressions are indeed lasting impressions.

  • What's in her closet: Trends that Should End

I sure love all of this color I’m seeing with the latest spring fashions that have emerged across all of my social media pages in the last couple of weeks.

My beloved favorite color – black – may be taking a back seat for a while. I feel like I don’t even know who I am anymore.

While the color black will forever remain my favorite, I cannot help but love the Pantone Color of the Year, “Living Coral,” and all of the colors that go along with this year’s spring looks.

  • Prologue: Spring is (Finally) in the Air

Much to my delight, we’re proud to unveil our annual Spring Fashion issue.

It’s officially time for the boots and scarves to be placed in the back of the closet (until it’s time for the Fall ‘Style’ issue) to make room for brighter colors, shorter sleeves, and open-toed shoes.

Throughout this issue you will see several local boutiques showcasing what they are carrying this season and what trends we should all be on the lookout for as the weather warms up.

From sequins and formal gowns, to casual wear and blue jeans, this issue has every base covered.

  • What's In My Closet: Music Festival Edition

My parents are brave. I say that because at the ripe age of 17 and a senior in high school, they let me attend my first-ever music festival. Not a big deal these days, but “back then” it was a HUGE deal. Smart phones were ridiculously expensive and not everyone had one. The “Find my Friend” app didn’t exist and it wasn’t an actual feature on a phone. Google Maps wasn’t very popular so my friend, Ginnie, and I printed out directions from the Mapquest website and took a road atlas along just to be safe.

  • What's in my Closet: Skincare Edition

Hello and Happy New Year, fashionistas! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday. With it being the new year, I wanted to shake things up a bit and start this month with something a little different to what I have normally done in the past. I’d like to take this month’s piece and focus on one thing… skincare. Yes, you read that correctly. This month, I am going to give you guys a breakdown of what skincare products I use and what they are specifically used for, as well as go through my daily and nightly skincare routine.

  • What's In My Closet: 'Tis the Season

‘Tis the season, friends! It’s time to decorate the tree and hang the stockings with care. But, wait…Wasn’t it just summer? How is Christmas already here? This year has flown by. With the holiday season upon us, whether we want to admit it or not, it’s time to do some shopping.

  • What’s in my Closet: Fashion items I am Thankful For

I wasn’t sure where to start when writing this. Some days inspiration hits and I picture myself looking like Stephen King writing his next great thriller. You know; crazed looks and fingers moving so swiftly across the keyboard that everything around you becomes hazy and 100 percent of your focus is on writing. Some days I have to sit in my bedroom with the closet door open and stare into what seems to be a pit of black clothing.

  • What's In My Closet: Game Day Edition

Open my closet and you will notice one thing right off the bat… LOTS of black. It has always been a favorite color of mine, and I feel like I can do so much with it. Thankfully, my alma mater’s colors are black and gold (Southern Miss To The Top!), so I already had a nice stockpile of black clothing to choose from.  With football season in full swing, and local boutiques stocking up on the cutest game day attire, it’s hard not to want to buy one of everything in the stores.

  • What's in Her Closet? Fall Wardrobe Staples

Grab your Pumpkin Spice Latte and light your favorite Fall scented candle, folks. My favorite season is slowly approaching and I could not be more excited! While fall weather in the south doesn’t really start until the end of October, I have decided to take a peek into my closet in order to prepare. Let’s take a look…
