    Chances are if you’ve been given advice at some point in your life – whether you’re a man or a woman – it came from your mother, a grandmother, a favorite aunt, a bossy sister, a respected teacher, a best friend or some other woman who has made a lasting impression on you. The Pine Belt has a plethora of women who enrich the lives of many of its residents day in and day out. It’s this advice or wisdom they’ve cultivated through their many experiences in life.

  • 2nd Annual BOPB Pub Crawl & Kick Off Party - May 31, 2019

    This year Signature Magazine is shaking things up a bit to keep the Best of the Pine Belt party going all month long and to amp up the excitement.

    June 1 marks the second annual Best of the Pine Belt Hall of Fame dinner with the BOPB Awards Show winding down FestivalSouth with a gala show on Friday, June 28, at the Saenger Theater.

    GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY MEETING
    7 PM @ The Genealogy Library

    Food historian and Associate Professor of American Cultural History Dr. Andrew Haley will give a presentation on the Mississippi Cookbook Project at The Genealogy Library, 307 2nd Avenue in Hattiesburg. His project is documenting community life in Mississippi through community cookbooks published in the 20th century.  All meetings are free and open to the public.  Experienced genealogy researchers will help you find your family roots. 

  • About the shoot: SULLIVAN BARN

    Sullivan Barn in Eastabuchie is a dream come true for the Sullivan Family. For more than 10 years The Sullivans imagined a barn that matched their enthusiasm and love for quarterhorses. 

    Two years from the first load of dirt to the last nail driven to completion, Sullivan Barn has exceeded the dream of its' owners, Glen and Shelley Sullivan.

  • 2nd annual best of the pine belt musical showcase April 27 & May 4

    For the second-consecutive year, Signature Magazine is giving Best of the Pine Belt voters a front row seat to see and hear some of his year’s nominated bands perform live and in person.

    In fact, this year there will be two chances – one in Hattiesburg and one in nearby Laurel.

    The fun kicks off at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 27, at The Thirsty Hippo with performances by Ty Trehorn, Marshall McKellar of The Devil Music Co., Mississippi Shakedown, and The Icemen. 

    Each band will present a 45-minute set.

  • MYSTIC KREWE OF ZEUS: CROWNING THE NEW KING & QUEEN

    In February, the Mystic Krewe of Zeus gathered at the Saenger Theater to crown its new monarchs.

    Lucas is a native of Hattiesburg. As a youth, he was active in the Boy Scouts obtaining the rank of Eagle Scout.  He attended Hattiesburg High School, where he lettered in cross country and track and field.

    TUESDAYS IN APRIL
    Irish Dance Beginner Lessons 

    7:30PM @ Sigler Center
    Irish dance lessons for beginners will be offered during the month of April at the Sigler Center in Hattiesburg each Tuesday night. Cost per person is $10 per class or $30 for the month. For more details, call 601-408-8219.

  • Pine Belt Paparazzo

    What more appropriate canvas than our Music issue for this year’s Best of the Pine Belt nominees for Best Live Music Photographer to showcase their talent. From the pit to the stage, these works by Sarah Douglas, Chad Edwards, Keith Kujath, Rob Walker and Amanda Kyrie are all winners.
